Newcastle University's Web team administers the University's five centrally
provided Web servers, manages the University's central information
infrastructure and provides a Web publishing service for staff, students
and departments. We are now looking to recruit an additional member of the
team with specific reference to Web programming.
The successful candidate will be a graduate, have a sound technical
knowledge of the World Wide Web and the Unix operating system, and
preferably have experience of server-side scripting. A knowledge of SQL and
the integration of web servers with databases would be an advantage, as
would familiarity with the Windows NT operating system. As the candidate
will be working within a team liaising with both systems groups within the
UCS and with users on campus, excellent communication skills and self
motivation, combined with an enthusiasm for developing a first class
service to the University at all levels, are essential requirements for
this position.
This post is tenable for 18 months in the first instance and salary will be
at an appropriate point on the ALC Grade 1 salary scale, 15,735 to 17,570
p.a., according to qualifications and experience.
