Transportation Engineering Faculty Positions
Faculty Positions in Transportation Engineering or Related Engineering
Discipline. The Department of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure
Engineering at George Mason University welcomes nominations and
applications for several tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant or
associate professor. Demonstrated research interest in one or more of the
following specializations is desired: intelligent transportation systems,
design and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, construction of
transportation systems, environmental impact of transportation systems,
transportation modeling, transportation infrastructure materials,
development and/or use of information technology in transportation
engineering, or other emerging transportation engineering area.
Appointments will be made at a level commensurate with the candidates'
experience and background. The appointee will have a unique opportunity to
participate in the development of transportation research and education
activities in the rapidly growing Washington metropolitan area. George
Mason University has made a significant strategic commitment to establish
and to support a variety of transportation-related integrated research
programs. Our novel ABET-accredited program combines civil engineering with
information technology education and research, and is intended to create a
new generation of engineers well prepared to meet the challenges of the
information technology age. We are seeking outstanding individuals to
serve both the civil engineering profession and university; who will bring
new ideas to our program; who demonstrate an enthusiasm for both
undergraduate and graduate teaching; who will be excited by the opportunity
to contribute to building a new program and to participate in various
administrative activities; and who have a strong commitment to scholarship
and research. Applicants should hold an earned doctorate in civil or
closely related engineering field. Professional registration is desired.
