To members of UTSG mailbase:
I have been requested by Eric Sampson (DETR) to pass on advance notice
of the next ITS World congress to be held in Torino on 6-9 November
2000. The Call for Papers should be issued next month.
In addition to the technical sessions which, as usual, form the core
of the programme there will be, for the first time, scientific
sessions intended for papers having "significant scientific content -
new models, algorithms, detailed technology studies etc." These
papers will have a special review process and will have special
sessions during the Congress. The emphasis is meant to be on "blue
skies" research and might well be of particular interest to the
academic transport research community.
There will also be panel sessions (designed to enable an important,
controversial or emerging topic to be addressed at a more detailed or
more focused level than would be possible in an executive session, but
with a wider view point and less detail than in a technical session)
and "showcases" (in which cities and others can show off their ITS
achievements).
