Dear List Members
I want to apologise in advance for “cross posting” but hope that you do
find the topic interesting and relevant to this list.
We are currently doing research at Utrecht University, The Netherlands,
regarding interconnectivity between passenger intermodal transportation
systems. Transfer, walking and waiting times all impact on household’s
time budgets and on the activities they can perform and their resulting
daily activity patterns. Activity patterns, in turn, provide valuable
input in transport and land use policy decisions.
It is this relationship that we are investigation - i.e. better
interconnectivity might lead to larger action spaces and vice versa
which ultimately influence the urban structure and the transportation
system. In order to formulate an appropriate intermodal transportation
policy one needs a thorough understanding of this relationship.
However, there seem to be very little research done regarding
interconnectivity (other than freight transport, which does not interest
us at this stage). Does anyone know of any information/research being
done in this area? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Names
of people, reports, books etc.
This information will be incorporated in a paper to be delivered at the
“Colloquium Vervoersplanologisch Speurwerk”-conference in Amsterdam,
November 1999.
Regards
Stephan Krygsman
