Dear Tim,
One of the tasks of the new International Executive of the IUAES Commission
will be nominating a member, or taking volunteers, to co-ordinate, with
other members of the Commission and with the organizing committees of
conferences sponsored by different organisations, our conference
participation. We are already in discussion with the International
Geogrpahical Union and the International Sociology Association to
participate in a conference that the ISA is organisaing in Fiji in 2000 -
more details soon.
Nominations are still open for the Executive of the Commission, but they
close on the 15th of this month, so anyone who is interested in being on
the Executive, and contributing to its presence in conferences, in
international resarch, in publications, in teaching development, etc.,
please consider sending in nominations quickly. For both the Executive and
the Editorial Committee for the Newsletter there are few nominations and
volunteers from the Southern Hemisphere, hopefully this imbalance can be
corrected!
Also, short articles and notices for the newsletter must arrive in the next
few days as well.
