Dear Jonathan and all,
Another option for viewing and editing postscript files is to convert them
to pdf files and edit them using Adobe Acrobat (the full version, not just
the free reader). I found that converting the postscript files to pdf files
also decreases this size of the output tremendously. For example, a 144.6
MB postscript file of SPMResults converted to a 0.9 MB pdf file. Aladdin
Ghostscript (http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/) contains also contains a
function to convert postscript files to pdf files (ps2pdf). I'm not sure if
Ghostscript can be used to edit pdf files.
