Both Matlab 5.2 and 5.3 run on new Linux distributions with libc6 (alas glibc2).
Note that you still need to install all libc5 files because even Matlab 5.3 was
linked against those libraries, ie. libc6 (glibc2) without libc5 installed does not
work!. I have been using SuSE Linux 6.0 and 6.1 (both glibc2 based, but with libc5
installed) and didn't encounter any problems.
