Conference Aims and Objectives
This conference offers an important forum on the question of the
application of Kantian philosophy. Much recent work and discussion has
offered convincing defences and valuable extensions of Kantian ethics
but there has, as yet, been little investigation of how far these
approaches can illuminate approaches in applied philosophy. The papers
to be offered at this conference offer wide-ranging discussion - as well
as some dispute - of the on-going relevance of Kantian thought.
Who should attend:
- political philosophers
- applied ethicists
- moral philosophers
- students of Kant+s thought
- HE Departments of Philosophy, Politics, Sociology, Ethics, Bioethics
and Law
While the conference+s aims support the relevance of Kant+s thought,
critical perspectives also tackle the possible limits of Kantian
approaches. We look forward to a lively debate that brings a practical
perspective to Kantian philosophising!
Keynote Speaker:
Professor Tom Regan, Professor of Philosophy, North Carolina State
University
