Public Relations Officer
The Institute of Physics has a vacancy for an experienced public relations
officer to help develop its corporate public relations and in particular to
increase the profile of physics and the Institute in the print and
broadcast media.
The Public Relations Officer plays a key role in the small Public Affairs
team, handling enquiries from journalists, drafting press releases and
disseminating news and stories to the media. Work involves liaison with
Institute staff and Members on media and publicity issues and on the design
and development of corporate promotional material. Duties include
maintenance of a media contacts database and press cuttings log.
As well as a physical sciences degree (physics would be preferable),
applicants must have at least three years' experience of working in PR,
excellent writing and interpersonal skills and a demonstrable knowledge of
working with and communicating on behalf of scientists.
Salary c.£19 000 depending on experience, plus benefits.
