POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THEORETICAL PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY
A postdoctoral position is available in my group, starting
immediately. Funding is available for several projects, for
up to three years, at $27,000-$30,000 per year, depending upon
qualifications.
The primary aim of our work is to model and understand several
elementary reactions which take place on metal surfaces that are
important in catalysis. One project examines Eley-Rideal reactions,
where a gas phase atom or molecule reacts with a surface-adsorbed
species. Both quasi-classical (see JCP 110, 11038, 1999) and
fully quantum (see Phys Chem Chem Phys 1, 1351, 1999) approaches
have been used. Studies of dissociative adsorption, recombinative
desorption, and reactions involving sub-surface H are also planned.
Another project focuses on the development and application of
methodologies for coupling the particles in these reactions to the
thermal vibrations of the lattice (see Chem Phys Lett 308, 456, 1999).
