Dear Martin,
I agree with you absolutely and totally: and I agree with Gareth and Mike,
but Peter's comment is correct. It must not be forgotten, however, that the
Internet and all involved with same - in/for whatever manner, reason or
purpose - partake in information exchange freely and inteligently. Openminded
and free discussion opens many doors, restricted discussion progressively
kills knowledge. It does not matter if but one person gains knowledge from a
particular dialogue, since this one is then possibly wiser than others! The
whole purpose of this mailbase is for open and friendly discussion on matters
pertaining to mining and related subjects, and, to a sensible degree,
personal enjoyment to all those involved at the same time - I have personally
enjoyed every minute of all and every bit of it, even though it has created
lots of extra reading! The mailbase is a superb creation, and is of great
interest to all those writing books, researching very worthwhile subjects,
and for general discussion; my personal experience with the mailbase is that
some seemingly 'light' comms. have resulted in considerable worthwhile
information - yes, also amusement, and enjoyment. Yes, I have mentioned the
property I can rent in Wales to mailbase members interested in visiting the
mines of this area: yes, I have made it known that I own an hotel in the Lake
District to members interested in visiting the mines etc. in same; this info.
is supplied for the benefit of all members of the mailbase and as a special
offer to same. I do not need to tout things are busy enough as it is. Mr
Wardley's comments are obviously presumed pompous by the many who have
responded (it has caused offence to much if not all of the mailbase), but it
is pleasing to see how many have ignored the matter - it is after all of no
consequence whatsoever, and the mailbase can do without this extra load. No
further comment will be made on the matter as far as I am concerned, and I am
sure no others will either - we have better things to
do.......................
On a proper note I wish to advise all of the following. All are aware of my
dealing & collecting in/of British mining share certs. etc., but, having now
put together the most extensive private collection of British metalliferous
mining share certificates and other important documentation & Mss. (covering
Cornwall, England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the IOM), if anybody is
looking for material to illustrate a book on a mine or mines, please let me
know and I will see if I can oblige. I will be pleased to permit material to
be used free of charge - except p.copying costs and postage & packing of
course.
Kind Regards to All, BERNARD R.MOORE
