Hello,
My name is Ginny Brunton. I work in a Public Health Unit doing research in
Hamilton, Canada. While this might seem a strange fit with a midwifery
research discussion list, there are parallels. My area of clinical
expertise is Maternal-Child health nursing. I worked for many years
directly with childbearing women and their families, prenatally,
intrapartum, and postpartum, in hospital and at home. I am interested in
exploring childbirth and its aspects from a health promotion perspective (as
opposed to an illness treatment/disease prevention perspective), and am
curious about the impact of the social determinants of health (income,
class, education) on childbearing. I would also like to know more about the
scope of midwifery research being done globally.
Looking forward to some interesting discussions.
Regards,
Ginny Brunton
