Dear all,
I am a practising midwife in Metro Toronto, Ontario. I am a active with the
Asssociation of Ontario Midwives' Standards and Reserach Ctte. We are
working on an update to our clinical data collection program, and are
devising a method of reviewing perinatal outcomes.
On a personal note, I am completing an MA through Thames Valley Univeristy
in London, England. My research for the dissertation will be focused on
midwives' knowledge and attitudes about Vitamin K prophylaxis and how it
relates to informed choice.
I am currently a co-investigator on a project to evaluate a tool to assess
antenatal psychosocial status. The trial is underway, we are hoping that
the providers using the tool will pick up more women with psychosocial
problems and provide support, intervention etc. which will improve the
outcomes for the new family. The topics on the tool have strong or moderate
supporting evidence from the literature in causality for postpartum
depression, harsh parenting, woman abuse, partner relationship.
