hi all,
i´m a student from bochum/germany and a new member on the amccs-list.
i´m working on my graduation at university with a project that explores the
relationships between film and the sense of smelling. a few parts of it are
finished, for example the use of notions concerning the sense of smelling
in the debate about the new media film in germany from round 1909 to 1920,
as well a little bit later.
also the part that deals with erperiments to get the scent into the cinema
(with Aromarama, Smell-o-vision, Odorama , Sensorama and modern computer
technology) is nearly finished, but concerning this thing, i have a
question for help:
I got a hint that in some movie theaters while screening The Broadway
Melody of 1929 the scent of orange blossoms was set free in the audience
room at the highlights of the film, but i could not find that in the
literature i can get here at university. so maybe someone has heard about
this fact and can give me a hint where i can find it...maybe there are
specialists in musicals with a lot of books about them.
of course, every other suggests concerning the topic are welcome, maybe you
know a film that represents smelling in some way which i don´t have on my
list yet..
thanks
JSM
