MGC Launches NEW Report into Museums and Income Generation
The Museums & Galleries Commission launched a new report into museums
and income generation at a high profile conference held this week. The
report entitled Creative Industry: Generating Income for Museums
examines the innovative ways in which museums generate income and makes
a number of valuable recommendations for the future.
Researched by AEA Consulting Creative Industry is presented in two
parts. Part One provides an overview of commercial income generation
by museums and presents a series of recommendations for the development
of museums' commercial activities. Part Two, available on disk, breaks
down into eleven separate sections, each covering an area of income
generation including; Catering, Retail, Product Development,
Publishing, Licensing, Mail order and e-commerce, Reproduction and
Photographic Rights, Picture Loan Schemes, Venue Hire, Consultancy and
Touring Exhibitions. These sections are practical in nature and contain
a wide range of illustrative case studies featuring the Natural History
