At the request of the MCG Chair, Sue Gordon, I am investigating the
setting up of a website for the Museum Computer Group as a whole, not just
this list, which already has one at
http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/mcg/
The idea is to incorporate a welcome from our Chair, an application form
for new members, facilities for existing members to change their
details and links to other relevant websites (mda, 24hourmuseum,
MGC/MLAC, CHIN, Getty come to mind immediately). Suggestions for other
features and links would be most welcome.
It would be very nice to have lots of images, reports of meetings,
copies of the newsletter (with an archive), and so forth. However I don't
have access to any of those resources! If anybody does, perhaps they could
let me know.
Initially I'll be experimenting with the free webspace provider
VirtualAvenue, mainly because they allow CGI access, thus allowing access
to databases in due course. Any suggestions for alternatives, mirror sites
and so forth are welcome. It might be best to forward suggestions,
contributions and other offers of assistance (says he, hopefully)
directly to myself, rather than to the list.
Thanking you all in anticipation..........
