The 1999 LS User Group Meeting will take place on Tuesday 9th November at
the Institute of Education (London).
The theme chosen for this year's meeting is
"Using the LS for International Research". The meeting is open to all -
including past, present and future LS users. It will include four
presentations of recent on ongoing work in which the study has been used
to make international comparisons. Confirmed speakers include:
Gabriele Doblhammer, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research,
Rostock, Germany "The relationship between fertility and longevity in
England and Wales and Austria"
Anton Kunst, Department of Public Health, Erasmus University, Rotterdam,
Netherlands "Using the LS for monitoring health inequalities in the EU"
Ray Hall, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of london
"Households and migration in England and Wales and France"
Michael Randall, Population Research Institute, Penn State University, USA
"Possible uses of the LS and the Echantillon Demographique Permanente for
fertility research"
We will also be providing an update on "What's new with the LS?" in terms
of new data, new analysis methods etc.
