I know that they don't allow a reverse look-up i.e. using just the
telephone number to get a name and address for DP reasons but I
don't see why you have to specify a location. You could, if
necessary, do separate searches for all the counties in the UK.
I can understand them not wanting to allow a full UK search on
www.bt.com site because the interface is so flakey and they don't
seem to have sufficient processing power to deal with large numbers
of users. But this is the CD we're talking about here and that
argument does not apply.
The only thing I can think of is that residential subscribers would
probably complain if someone was trying to track down a long lost
friend or relative and rang every number they found on a full UK
search. But again, one can still do a county wide search.
