The Turkish Script Reform, 1928-1998
-----------------------------------------------
On the occasion of the Turkish script reform of 1928, now seventy
years ago, I have rummaged a bit through our stacks at Leiden. With
what I found there I have put together a small exhibition
of Ottoman and early Republican printed books, early Uzbek
imprints in the Latin alphabet from the 'thirties and the like.
There is a slightly modified Internet version of this exhibition you
may wish to visit:
http://www.leidenuniv.nl/ub/pub/klpubl/31
It is meant as a service to our local general reading public, so it
is entirely in Dutch. The images, of course, speak for themselves.
This may be a good opportunity to brush up your knowledge of one of
the "less commonly taught languages".
