Subj: EURAMES Water Group
During the final session of the water workshop at the EURAMES Conference in
Ghent, the idea was raised to institutionalise the (occasional) contacts
between researchers on water issues in the Middle East. The creation of a
Water Group within the EURAMES framework can establish a permanent platform
for contacts, exchange of information and the announcement of research
results. A web site can support this structure. Therefore, prof. Meyer asked
me to create a web site, connected to an online database, through which all
relevant information on European research on Middle Eastern and North
African water issues can be made accessable to the EURAMES members.
Further, this web site will be extended with information on conferences,
publications, news and other organisations and events (e.g. the World Water
Commission, UN or World Bank reports, etc).
I promised prof. Meyer to show him a test site by the end of this year. Due
to a miscalculation in my own time management, this work has been delayed.
At the end of January 2000, I would like to have an operational test site
for the Water working group. To enable me to create this initial database, I
would like to ask for your co-operation. Please, send me an email with the
following information:
1. Your name
2. Address
3. Phone and fax number
4. Email
5. Name and address of the institute
6. Phone and fax number, email of the institute
7. URL of the institute's homepage
8. Name of the institute's representative
9. Keywords, describing research topics related to water issues (examples:
management, Egypt, urban sewage systems; or: domestic policy, Jordan,
irrigation, legislation)
10. A list of representative presentations/papers/personal bibliography:
a) Title
b) Abstract
c) Evt. full text
11. Useful URL's of web sites, reports, organisations, conferences, etc.
In the near future, an electronic form will be available to fill out.
Best greetings,
Yours sincerely,
