PRESS RELEASE
ingenta announce the launch of MCB journals on the ingentaJournals service
ingenta, the leading provider of online research activity is pleased to
announce the launch of 117 MCB University Press journals within the
ingentaJournals service.
ingenta
ingenta ltd was formed in September 1998 by the privatisation of the Bath
Information and Data Services (BIDS) unit of the University of Bath. Since
1990, BIDS has been developing bibliographic search services for the UK
Higher Education community. Its ingentaJournals service provides scholarly
publishers with an online delivery service for full-text journal articles
which last month (May 1999) saw over 45,000 electronic documents downloaded
to end-users worldwide. ingenta will by the inclusion of the MCB journals
continue to enlarge and build on its success in creating online solutions
tailored to the needs of the academic community.
MCB University Press
MCB University Press is a privately owned company, founded in 1967 by a
group of senior business school academics who were dissatisfied with the
international publishing outlets available for authors. Its continuing
mission is to remain an independent niche publisher of high quality academic
research and applied titles. MCB University Press now publishes over 140
titles (117 of which are available via ingenta), in both print and
electronic formats, predominantly within the management area. MCB makes
published journal content available to subscribing institutions in three
distinct ways: individual journal subscriptions, as a complete database of
more than 100 predominantly management journals / 24,000 articles (MCB's
Emerald Intelligence + Fulltext) and via library consortia agreements.
Carolyn Dougherty, ingenta Ltd Sales Director commented: "The addition of
MCB journals to the growing critical mass of journals within ingentaJournals
is a major contribution to our business related material which also includes
the Reuters Database"
Mathew Wills, of MCB explains the move:
"The role of the academic publisher has always been to maximise the
dissemination of content for our authors and editors. MCB University Press
seeks to achieve this in the electronic publishing age through our liberal
licensing policies and by ensuring that published content is available on
every fulltext journal system that our customers and users might require."
"We are, therefore, very pleased that MCB University Press journals are now
available via the ingentaJournals service to individual journal subscribers
and those that have purchased MCB's Emerald Database either direct or via
CHEST. The ingenta service compliments existing online journal access via
MCB's own Emerald Library, OCLC's Electronic Collections Online, SwetsNet,
Information Quest, Ebsco Online Subscriptions, Lange and Springer's L@ser
and Blackwells Navigator."
