Dear All
Please note I've accidentally lost £450,000 off the original amount
specified, thanks to Mair who shows someone can count!!
Joan's comment about NHSNet is an issue. In my original e-mail I intended
to say that we might also think about buying access to an ISP so that we
can use the internet as our preferred option for communicating.
Telecomms Branch staff do assure regional Office IT staff that things will
get better and hopefully the FLIS work should improve access at Trust and
HA level. I suspect that unless we badger IT support staff (Kieran is a dab
hand at this where Liverpool HA is concerned) to ensure we have the
appropriate level of connection then we will always be an after thought!

Dear Linda,
Regarding the identification of strengths in individual library
collections,
I recently mentioned
to David Steward that it would be a good idea to do just this and he was
keen on the idea.
He suggested that it be forwarded to the JULIE group for consideration. My
thought came about
when I embarked on weeding the library book and journal collections. To
aid
decision making as
regards retention/disposal of journals, I decided that Oncology,
Psychiatry,
Dermatology, Elderly
Medicine and General Practice were our strengths. It is important to
liaise
with each other about
weeding, so that we are not all retaining and disposing of the same items.
How can we get this
moving?
I agree with your suggestion about ensuring everyone is connected to the
Internet/NORWHSLA
discussion group and I know DS is keen on this too. The biggest problem
with communications
at the moment is that NHSnet x400 and regular Internet adresses not always
being able to reach
other. What can be done about this - we need to feel confident that
NORWHSLA messages are
reaching everyone.
Any ideas anyone?
Joan
