Dear all
I learnt from Rini at MRI last week that they have now appointed a
library assistant and feel able to cope with normal photocopying
requests.
There has also been some confusion in some people's minds about
the order in which to send out photocopying requests. What follows
is an attempt to clarify the situation- but open to your comments as
of course I am not personally involved. (I shall probably repeat this
in a mailing which is being prepared - as I know not everyone is on
email yet).
1. When the region was in two halves and the two lists were separate,
then it was understood that librarians applied to libraries in their
own half region first, then to the other one. Now that the two lists
are merged these distinctions have disappeared in the lists but may
still be in people's minds.
2. Some libraries (because of their more extensive holdings perhaps)
are feeling overburdened with requests. There will have to be some
sensitive re-adjustment and forbearance on both sides.
3. The non-NHS and more specialist libraries may still be feeling
overstretched (NB Ros McNally is moving on to the National Primary
Care Research Development Centre in Sept/Oct and there may be a gap
there.)
Hope this helps.
Valerie
