We also require a graduate for our Mapping and Geographic Information
Centre to assist with the data management and maintenance of the British
Antarctic Survey's Antarctic topographic database.
Providing an in-house customised topographic map service, you will
develop digital products for export to graphics packages, generate new
products from the database and react to individual requests for GIS
advice. You will also merge new data with the existing Antarctic
topographic databases and assist with the dissemination and publication
of digital geographic products.
This is a part-time appointment for a period of three years, working for
the equivalent of two and a half days a week.
You should have a good honours degree in Topographic Sciences, Geography
or Environmental Sciences, and either a post-graduate diploma or MSc, in
GIS or remote sensing. Experience of ARC/INFO software is essential and
familiarity with data-management procedures and ERDAS IMAGINE software
would be an advantage. Cartographic experience is highly desirable.
Salary will be in the range of £13,800 pa to £21,580 pa pro-rata
depending on qualifications and experience.
