A GIS/risk data analysis post has become vacant to work in the Housing
Benefit Fraud Section of a North-East Local Authority.
Salary is in the range £13,000 to £16,000 per annum (pro rata), depending on
qualifications and experience.
In the first instance this post is available until the end of March 2000,
with a strong possibility of extension to six months, and the employer is
looking to make an IMMEDIATE appointment. Further work, with the Local
Authority employer, or with the Centre for Environmental and Spatial
Analysis at the University of Northumbria is a possibility.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
- a general competence in statistics
- a familiarity with the Access database for data management and data
analysis
- a familiarity with the ArcView GIS
- a general competence with Windows NT and MS Office Software.
The post is to carry out analysis of housing benefit data to target fraud
investigations on the ground (NOT in itself part of this post), and provide
background data, with a strong GIS element, to support the ongoing work of
the Local Authority Housing Benefit Fraud Office.
