Dear Roland and all listmembers,
Although it does not have much to do with museums in the first place, I
remember a project in Holland about numbers in your town. It was a tour for
children and it was really fun to do. Children went searching for numbers,
for instance on buses, telephone numbers on shop windows, counting street
signs, looking for clocks, and so on.
I can imagine that in a museum you can start a project in which children
like a curator have to organize the collection. This work involves
counting, measuring, adding collection numbers and so on. In this case you
teach them numeracy in a practical way and make them aware of all the work
behind the scenes, too.
