Bissell here: My point was that, as Steve noted, this whole thing is tainted
with hysteria and sloppy thinking. The threat of plutonium is real, but not
at the biblical level indicated by this article. And, piling bad science,
metaphor or not, on top of that doesn't help. If fact it makes people like
me, who should be sympathetic, dubious about all of your claims.
By the way, I have a BS in Environmental Biology, an MS in Zoology, a Ph.D.
in Public Administration specializing in Environmental Policy Analysis. I
have over 30 years of experience in environmental issues and about 75
refereed publications and two books. I know you are concerned about Steve's
CV, but I would point out that all of this or that pedigree doesn't make a
dog hunt. The validity of an opinion is in the thought behind it, not the
person.

In a message dated 99-05-25 20:35:47 EDT, you write:
<< “If Cassini is sucked into the Earth's atmosphere . . ."
>>
The author is a journalist writing for the popular market, using a
metaphor.....I'd say poor literary discrimination, not faulty
analysis........
