Derek,
At the symposium 'Beyond 2000 in Computational Geotechnics - 10 Years of
PLAXIS International' Michal Topolnicki of the Technical University of
Gdansk, Poland, presented a paper on a finite element back analysis of a
loaded vertical cut in 'municipal solid waste'. A Ph.D. student carried out
a load test on a household waste site, and through a parametric study he
found the parameters of the Mohr-Coulomb model describing the deformation of
the waste.
The proceedings have been published at Balkema, the paper (7 pages, I may
send you a copy of it using snail-mail) contains 2 references, one to the
Polish Ph.D. thesis, one to a Polish article.
The author of the paper's e-mail address is
[log in to unmask],
I guess he will be the best source for more information on this subject.
Kind regards,
