Dear John,
I posted the following in response to a query back in Nov 1997. Not very
helpful, but it may give you a lead.
British Geological Survey did have some links to information about their
borehole database - but not to the data itself. However, I can't even find
that link from their new web pages (http://www.bgs.ac.uk/) but I'm sure it
is there if you search for it.

Subject: BGS Borehole Database
Recently I found an Internet address where the BGS borehole database could
be found. Frustratingly, I failed to bookmark it and can no longer locate
it. I thought that it was sent through the engineering-geotech mailbase list
but searching the archives has also been unsuccessful. If anyone can be of
any assistance please would you let me know.
Thanks
John AJ
