For those who found interest in the figures posted recently, here are
the provisional ones for 1997/8 (the year the NMHA went up to 10k).
They wont be confirmed until July but past experience suggests they
are close. The first row completes the old table 1, the actual number
of awards. The second row shows their many-fold increase over the
1992 figures. So again, Equip and General are increasing neck and
neck, approximately four-fold. But number of NMH awards continues
to grow even faster .
Provisional only
Year Gen NMH Equip
1997/8) 3430 2630 4780
Growth x4.08 x5.5 x4.08
The next row shows the sums of money involved then divided by the
above numbers to give the average award.
1997/8 2.3/670 3.3/1255 7.8/1632
The total amount spent on NMH grew twice as fast in this year.
Previous growth had been remarkably close to .4M/year. In 97/98 it
was .8M. Yet the average award continues to fall, though this decline
has slowed a bit.
