Hi

As promised, I would like to pick your brains and ask for your help and
opinions for my design investigation. My chosen subject area is how
children's books, television and interactive media relate to each other
and to today's child.

The concept for the project originated at Anne Wood's (Ragdoll
Productions) D&AD lecture last month and I am waiting to hear from her PA.
 So far, I have sent out questionnaires to book publishers, interactive
publishers and TV Production and Broadcasting companies. I have also
carried out interviews with the
Art Dept Manager and a Designer at Walker Books. I am hoping DK will also
let me in!

I would be very grateful if you could answer the following questions so
that I can start to gather some opinions on the subject. If you have any
comments or suggestions for relevant books or articles I would be very
grateful to receive them.

Thanks for your help!

Christine Rosher

How do children's books, television and interactive learning relate to
each other?

How do children's books, television and computers relate to children?

How much time do children spend:	watching TV?
					reading books?
					playing computer games?
					using interactive learning devices?
(any ideas where I might be able to find statistics like these?)

How much contact do children have with computers at home and at school?

Do you agree that children are getting older younger? Why?

What was childhood like for you and how is it different today?

Given the chance, would you want to be a child in the 21st century? Why?
