George: Provided below is a sample of one of the many false claims offered by
Simon Clarke in an article of his published in the The State Debate.
Simon Clarke: The way out of the dilemma, it seems to me, is through the concept
of class struggle, a concept that makes it possible to make the transition from
the level of abstraction of the concepts of Capital to their historical
application to the real world.
George: He is essentially arguing that Capital is an abstract piece disconnected
from the real world devoid of the concepts of class struggle. Consequently class
struggle is extraneously introduced, according to Clarke, to connect Capital to
its real application.
This essentially ignores the fact that class struggle is inherently interwoven
into the critique of political economy that is embodied in Capital. It provides
further evidence that Clarke et al are in a veiled fashion challenging Capital
and its concepts.
Warm regards
George
