We are writing to invite you to attend a Conference: The Labour Debate. The aim
of this Conference is to bring together people who are interested in the
emerging
debate on the theory and reality of labour in a world of increasing
unemployment and poverty within the labour theory of value. The issues to be
discussed specifically includes the centrality of work, the inner connection
between capital and labour, the significance of abstract labour and theory of
value in understanding the new forms of existence of labour and its
struggles, in
and outside the workplace, money and class struggle and the problem of
subjectivity.
Colleagues who have been invited to give papers include Werner Bonefeld
(York), Simon Clarke (Warwick), Harry Cleaver (Austin, Texas), Massimo De
Angelis (East London), Diane Elson (Manchester), Richard Gunn (Edinburgh),
John Holloway (Edinburgh and UAM, Mexico) and Graham Taylor (UWE).
The one day Conference will take place on the 24th February at 11.30 am at the
University of Warwick under the auspices of the Centre for Comparative Labour
Studies
