will post a summary to the list*
At Sussex we are in the process of drafting a data protection statement
that all students will sign upon arrival/registration to give explicit
consent to various categories of processing of their personal data.
This would include:-
* accepting 'essential' processing necessary to administer their studies
(e.g. our obligations to provide info to HESA).
* opting out of the website e-mail directory, pass lists etc.
* consenting to the provision of information to third parties such as
progress information to financial sponsors or potential employers.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, have any other universities got a similar
statement that we could have a look at to get some ideas?
Many thanks
