I have received this message from what some people would call paradise.
I thought some members might be interested or even know something about it.
Sorry about the attached files but I don't think they are too big and it is a very nice piece.

RE: interesting piece,
Aloha,
I am hoping you can give us a few suggestions on this piece. This piece
was found in Wisconsin in the mid 60's, 12 feet under a log cabin which
had been there for around 30 years. We don't have any qualified
archaeologists here in the islands, so I decided to try metallurgists.
This piece was cast in 4 layers (silver, gold, copper, and silver again)
and the hand carved to make the whole thing look silver except the sun
and parts of the relief on the front of the sphinx. Most of the silver
has been worn off, but some is still visible on the front and back. Was
there a period when people crafted metals in this way? I havn't had
much success with other areas of research, I'm hoping you might be
able to give me a few clues as to it's origin.
These pix are of the piece uncleaned...only washed with water in the
60's, not touched again until last week.
Thanks in advance!
