Further to a recent question, could anyone suggest texts which relate to the
analysis of failure/repair data when there are FEW failures among a LARGE
number of copies of a system. The copies will in general have been installed
in service at various times and undergone zero or more repairs. The need is
for a test which can distinguish between an increasing or decreasing failure
rate (for the population as a whole) in service. This is a typical
industrial situation. The texts I have been able to find do not seem to
treat this particular case, but mostly concentrate on analysis of time to
failure(s) of a single copy.
