--------------------------------------------------------------
* Internationally renowned speaker

                   Mantel-Haenszel, ordinal responses, exact methods
* Focus on new model-building procedures
* Practical examples using industry standard software
* Precedes major international conference
               Statistical Issues in Biopharmaceutical Environments :
                 Towards the New Millennium (28 - 30 July 1999)
VENUE
De Montfort University, Leicester

INTRODUCTION
The past two decades have seen an explosion in the development of new
methods for analysing categorical responses. These methods are now
heavily used in applicationsin the health, behavioural, and biomedical
sciences. The short course emphasis is applied rather than theoretical.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is designed to introduce statisticians and other quantitatively
trained scientists to modern methods for categorical data analysis.
No previous knowledge of categorical data analysis is necessary. Models
will be taught by analogy with regression and analysis of variance (ANOVA)
for continuous responses, so prior background in these methods is advisable.
Some background instatistical theory is helpful, but the course emphasis is
applied rather than theoretical.

WHY ATTEND
* Delegates will be brought up to date with modern methods for categorical
  data analysis
* Focus on the most useful of the new model-building procedures
* Course emphasis is applied rather than theoretical
* Examples given of analysis of data sets and use of computing software
  (primarily SAS).

COURSE DIRECTOR
Professor Alan Agresti, Department of Statistics, University of Florida,
has an international reputation for work on categorical data. He has
published numerous articles on categorical data analysis in journals such
as the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Journal of the American
Statistical Association, Biometrics, Biometrika, and Statistics in Medicine.
He is also the author of several leading textbooks on the subject.
