ANNOUNCING:
DISEASE MAPPING AND RISK ASSESSMENT FOR PUBLICH HEALTH
a two day course
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the area of disease
mapping and risk assessment in applications to Public Health and Epidemiology.
The course consists of sessions dealing with:
Basic concepts of disease mapping
Ecological Analysis
Disease cluster assessment
Risk assessment around health hazards
The emphasis in the course will be practical and
participants will be involved in tutorials with the DISMAPWIN mapping package.
In addition, a review and demonstration of GIS tools for disease mapping
will be
provided.
The course is being presented by Dr Andrew B. Lawson,
who is a World Health Organisation (WHO) advisor on Disease Mapping
and recently organised with the WHO an International workshop
on this topic which has led to an edited volume (available with the course).
This course,in different forms, has been successfully run previously
in Katholic University, Leuven, Belgium and at the ISCB annual conference
Dundee 1998.
