THE DETERMINANTS OF MIGRATION:
LESSONS FOR MODELLING AND PROJECTION
Tony Champion, Stewart Fotheringham and Phil Rees
University of Newcastle/University of Leeds
To improve subnational forecasts of the demand for social housing,
the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions has
commissioned a series of studies. Among these was a review of
evidence about the trends in migration, the factors driving those
trends and how that knowledge might be used in improving
population and household forecasts. The paper reviews the
determinants of migration drawing on a wide range of evidence and
considers how best to incorporate that knowledge in predictive
models of migration.
THE MEETING IS FREE AND THERE IS NO NEED TO REGISTER
TEA AVAILABLE FROM 4:30pm
THIS MEETING WILL BE PRECEDED BY THE SECTION AGM
