LEEDS MEDICAL STATISTICS GROUP SEMINAR
The next seminar will be:
NICK LONGFORD
Department of Medical Statistics, De Montfort University, Leicester.
"Combining information from several sources"
2pm, Friday 22nd October, 1999.
Abstract:
Much of our statistical practice is concerned with analysing single datasets,
even though in most cases there are numerous other sources of information about
the studied issue. In Bayes analysis, prior information is formulated as a
prior distribution which then contributes to the analysis of a dataset. A
general non-Bayesian approach is presented and several medical applications
discussed, starting with a constructive resolution of the carryover issue in
crossover trials and of model selection in general using data from an
epidemiological study as an example.
Seminars are held at Leeds University's Centre for Health Services
Research at 34 Hyde Terrace, Leeds.
Everybody welcome.
Further details and directions are available from Darren Greenwood.
