The University of Bremen announces the vacancy of a position in the
faculty of Mathematics,
Technomathematics, and Informatics (Faculty 03) to be filled as soon as
possible, pending
official approval:
PROFESSORSHIP
- salary group C4 -
as civil servant for lifetime
in the department of
STATISTICS, with the major topics of:
"BIOMETRICS and methods for EPIDEMIOLOGY".
The position is with the Institute of Statistics in Faculty 03, in
conjunction with the university
department of BIOMETRICS at the Bremen Institute for Prevention
Research, Social
Medicine, and Epidemiology (BIPSE) which provides considerable research
possibilities.
We are looking for a mathematician with qualifications in the field of
statistics and
with experience in applied projects (extensive empirical studies in the
field of clinical research /
epidemiology).
The applicant must have experience in obtaining grants and in the
leadership of interdisciplinary
working groups.
Teaching duties include basic and advanced courses in the field of
mathematics, as well as special
services providing statistical expertise to other departments,
especially for
postgraduate studies in health sciences and public health, and for
course studies in biology.
Division heads at the BIPSE jointly oversee the functions of the
individual division heads of
the non-university BIPS which is bound to the university by a
co-operative agreement.
Within this leadership function, the successful applicant will be
expected to initiative and acquire
funding for projects, and to provide methodological advice to other
divisions.
The successful applicant will actively support the BIPSE’s obligatory
goal of research toward
preventative techniques.
In addition to the general employment requirements for civil servants
and the educational suitability
and special ability for scientific work, the position requires a
qualification
equivalent to a German habilitation in mathematics or statistics and
relevant teaching experience.
