Epidemiology - Statistics - Genetics
An MRC Bioinformatics studentship is available, to commence October
1999, to work on the genetics of susceptibility to tuberculosis and
leprosy. This studentship, which carries an enhanced stipend, provides
an exciting opportunity for training in statistical genetics and
epidemiology, and to contribute to an important field. The project
will be built around a large dataset accumulated in Africa over the
past 20 years, and includes opportunities for close interaction with
collaborators at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in
Oxford (Prof A Hill) and the MRC Biostatistics Unit in Cambridge (Dr D
Clayton). Candidates should have strong quantitative skills. They
should have, or expect, at least a 2(i) degree, in a relevant
scientific discipline, and must fulfil UK - EC residence criteria.
