Research Assistant / Research Fellow

Due to the internal promotion of the previous post-holder a vacancy has
arisen to participate in the shared research interests of the Department of
Marketing and the Institute of Aquaculture, outlined below.  The successful
candidate will be responsible for the management of an EU funded
international research project, ORGSAL - Organic salmon production and
consumption: ethics, consumer perceptions, which will continue until June
2000.  The project is led by Dr Jimmy Young and involves academics working
in the UK (Stirling), Norway, France, Germany & Spain.  The person appointed
would be responsible for the collection and analysis of UK related data
through fieldwork and desk research and collating the research conducted
abroad (much of which data is qualitative in nature).  Good report writing,
communication and project management skills are essential; a priority is to
disseminate the research findings through published output for refereed
journals and conferences. 

An academic or applied background in marketing, economics, food research or
related disciplines would be advantageous. Knowledge of the fish farming
industry would also be welcome.  The post is likely to involve travel within
the UK and the EU.  Salary will be within Grade 1A spine points 4-9 of the
Research and Analogous Staff Salary Structure (15,735 to 20,107).
