There was a piece in the July SS Update from DfEE which reproduced a CVCP
paper giving "guidance" on refunds policy.
We were less than pleased with it because we had not been consulted and,
had we been, would not have agreed to it. The "guidelines" were that we
should all refund on the basis of weeks attended as a proportion of 30
(regardless of how many we actually teach).
At their August meeting, Scottish Universities agreed that they would not
follow the guidelines, preferring to retain a policy of refunding on the
basis of terms or semesters attended wholly or in part.
The CVCP guidelines would allow a student to attend 10 weeks of teaching in
a 15 week semester, withdraw from the revision and exam periods and then
claim a refund of a third of the cost of staging the module. Mmmmm, Nice!
As for the issue of awards body refunds, my understanding is that there
will be none. If they are here on 1 Dec, we keep the money.
We have tried to make sense of all this on our website at:

Alastair
