Dear Fiona,
Your email message has been passed to me re:award ceremonies.
We organise two sets of events per year. In July we run eight undergraduate
award events over four days (two events per day). We issue invitations in
April and take ticket requests upto the week prior to the ceremonies. We check
results and debtors in June/July and then confirm peoples places or inform
them they cannot attend because of poor results/debts etc. We also hold six
events in April for Dip's/Master/PhD's etc.
We have approx. 200 - 250 students attending each event.
Students invitations are free of charge, however guests need to pay #15.00
each in advance for the event. The cost covers seat at St George's Cathedral
(not numbered - first come get the best seats), souvenir glossy programme,
reception, buffet, music, and wine or juice (unlimited until it runs
out-approx. 3 glasses each). The July receptions are held under marquee in the
grounds of the Imperial war museum and the April events are held within a
large hall in the University.
Graduand seats are numbered. We previously operated the lists system, names
read from a list with a last minute panic headcount. We operate a card system
now which is much easier - although occasionally graduands manage to misplace
their card prior to the announcement despite constant reminders - Spare cards
need to be available as you may guess.
Hope this is useful in some way.
Don't hesitate to call/email if you have any queries.
Regards
