We currently have one 0.6 disability adviser, just received widening
participation funding for 2 more days. If we get the HEFCE ££
(should find out this week!) will also have 2 more part-timers,
dyslexia and IT specialists respectively. We might then have
something we could call a unit!

Th disability officer /unit-to-be is part of the equal opps team,
which is basically me and a mentoring co-ordinator. I also have
networks of voluntary 'listening ears', 'harassment counsellors' and
'disability named contacts' across the schools/depts, and a half day
a week harassment officer. We are based in Student Services, I am
line managed by the Head of Student Services. We have an Equal Opps
committee, with various working groups, chaired by the University
Secretary.
Hope this helps,
