With all due respect but anyone who is "designing a sophisticated
system for very specific descriptive/functional req.. " and thinks
Dublin Core will do the job should probably go back to school and
take a few lessons in systems analysis.
Why use DC when you are confined to your own given domain? DC is a
great container because it's interoperable across domains. Should you
want to stick to you own domain go looking some where else...
BUT, I think it is good that some has brought up the subject. It
shows that some people (camp1) would like see DC as the "swiss army
knife" of data standards.
