Sorry, I forgot to add this postscript to my reply to Mairian:
I have a very different view, definition of "theory" than Mairian and
others have. What she describes as "theorizing" I view as
"conceptualizing" which we all do when we express ourselves. "Theory," to
me and to others, is a set of assumptions from which theorems are deduced
which can be operationalized and tested empirically. THIS STATEMENT DOES
NOT MEAN THAT EMPIRICAL, QUANTITATIVE METHODS ARE THE ONLY VALID ONES. IT
DOES MEAN THAT QUANTITATIVE METHODS CAN PROVIDE SOME INSIGHTS. QUALITATIVE
METHODS CAN ALSO AND I USE THEM OFTEN.
