Simi Linton mentioned an upcoming radio program on Disability
Studies. The program is part of a series called "To the Best of
Our Knowledge." BOOK happens to be produced in my home town and
distributed internationally by Public Radio International. The
satellite broadcast is on Sundays, but many stations break the
3-hour feed into 1-hr programs that are broadcast through the
week.
You can see if there's a local (US, Europe, Sat, Internet)
station broadcasting it at this site:
http://www.wpr.org/book/bclist.htm
In honor of the list, perhaps, one can find it in
Leeds on Bell Cable Media, 90.4 FM
but it don't say when. :-(
To order cassette copies in the US call
The Radio Store at 1-800-747-7444, asking for show number
98-10-18-C "Disability Studies"
or mail to
To the Best of Our Knowledge
821 University Ave.
Madison, WI 53706
Here's the teaser ... the show may still be in production as I write.

Hour C - "Disability Studies"
You know it's not polite to call a man a cripple, but maybe it's
okay if that's the word he uses to describe himself? The
disabled are beginning to thumb their noses at stigma. In this
hour of To the Best of Our Knowledge, the new field of
disability studies. Also, the life that Helen Keller abandoned
to become an American icon.
