I'm not sure quite how you are proposing to do your coding (ie how
automatic) but two alternatives you might consider are:
database software eg filemaker pro - might be too structured for your
needs but easy to use but I understand it has quite a powerful scripting
tool
hypertext software eg hypercard - would allow more flexibility than a
database but you don't get all the standard database functionality -
scripting particularly for handling text is very powerful
Both these options would I suspect take longer for you to set up than
using NUD*IST but you would probably be able to automate more once you had
got into the scripting tools.
